Something Borrowed (two things actually!) and Something LINKY (and FREE)!

Happy Hump Day Everyone! I had a fabulous day at work, then picked up this smiling face from daycare....
My four year old wasn't being a very happy camper, but this little guy?....MADE my afternoon even better :)

So, I thought I'd start by sharing with you guys a couple of activities I did with my first graders today. In math, I used an awesome FREEBIE I scored from Lacey at Wild About Teaching!
My math students got to use JELLY BEANS to practice graphing, adding, and least/greatest!

To get Lacey's freebie yourself, just check out Lacey's TpT Store HERE!

Later in the day, I was working with my class on one of our U.S. Symbols....the Bald Eagle. As a class we talked about what we knew and what we wanted to learn, did some true/false fact guessing about the Bald Eagle, then had fun measuring our wingspans and comparing them to a typical bald eagle! This is part of my MINI U.S. Symbols unit that's available at my TeachersPayTeachers Store

In addition to that, I also took advantage of this awesome purchase I made on TpT The Bald Eagle Glyph
Students made their own unique bald eagles based on a set of questions. Take a look at my bulletin board!

The kids did an great job, don't you think??

Now, if you haven't heard yet, there is a REALLY COOL LInky Party happening over at All Students Can Shine!
Valerie is looking for Literacy center ideas....activities/games...things that students can have fun with, but at the same time, can learn from! Here is my fun literacy activity FREEBIE!

Be sure to visit Valerie's blog and LINK UP with your own literacy idea and be sure to check out everyone else's ideas too!

Lastly, don't forget, tonight is the last night to get my VERBS ON VACATION packet for the sale price of $2.50. After tomorrow, it'll be $3.

Night night~

    First Upon A Time

    1. Anytime! I know what it's like to be the new blog on the block! :)

  3. Awww! How could that face not make you grin?
I just found your blog and I love your store- I put several things on my wishlist. The irony of subbing is that I have time to collect resources for my future class, but no money!

  4. :) Well, the funny thing is that, even when you become a full time teacher, you will spend the little extra money you have on supplies and fun stuff for your class! least, I do! Good think you can claim it all on taxes! :)

Thanks for following! Glad you found me. Be sure to check in often for freebies and giveaways!

  5. Hi Marie! I'm your newest follower! :-) I'm a new blogger. I love your Eagle craft glyphs. I'm working on a U.S. symbols unit with my class as well, and we've spent a lot of time learning about the Bald Eagle. We have been observing a live webcam of an eagle's nest in Decorah, Iowa. The mom and dad eagle just had three babies. If you're interested in learning more about this webcam, I blogged about it recently- I need some more followers ;-). The link to the Decorah Eagles is
